Mimi’s Symphony with Justine Clarke x Sydney Opera House

We were approached by beloved Australian actress Justine Clarke to bring to animated life the cute animal characters from her original song “Mimi’s Symphony” (feat. George Ellis) for an exciting live theatre performance at the Sydney Opera House in April 2025. We collaborated with Justine to find a style that suited young children but also had the sophistication to hold their parents and carers. We settled on the charm of simple and graphically clean shapes.

The central character, Mimi, is a curious little magpie who, after being blown from her nest, finds herself on the edge of a suburban park. All she remembers is the echo of something grand and beautiful. Young theatre goers are taken on an exciting journey as Mimi meets various animal families, learns how to survive in the suburbs, and ultimately brings everyone together in a heartwarming finale.

Studio Gilay was pumped for the opportunity to work in the live theatre space!

Tickets for ‘Mimi’s Symphony’ are available for the Sydney Opera House on 11-13 April 2025 as well as the Canberra Theatre Centre at the end of May 2025.
