D’harawal Dance and Storytelling Videos x Western Sydney University
Our studio collaborated with Western Sydney University to produce live-action videos as part of the Australian Research Council Project, “Storytelling with Ancestral and Living Knowledges: Shielding our Futures – Garuwanga-Waduguda-Narinya’o ‘Birad – Ngabai Yillimung’o’ngun.”
Filmed on unceded D’harawal Country, the studio produced two dance films which offer a powerful, movement-based interpretation of the traditional D’harawal stories – YANDEL’ORA (The Land of Peace Between Peoples) and YANDEL’MAWA (The Seven Peacekeepers). Our studio also produced two additional live-action videos of D’harawal Elders and Community narrating these two stories.
To watch these videos and learn more about this project, visit the Western Sydney University’s First People’s Garden website.
