NAIDOC Projection x City of Sydney

We designed and animated the NAIDOC week projections for Sydney’s Town Hall. Following this year’s NAIDOC theme ’50 Years of Deadly’. The projections ran from 5th to 19th July 2026 alongside numerous performances and offerings from fellow First Nations owned businesses.

By celebrating 50 years of Deadly, Studio Gilay turns back the clock at Town Hall through bold, abstract animation, highlighting the deadliest events in First Nations history. From the first NAIDOC to Land Rights across the country, each key moment is depicted through symbolism, First Nations pattern work and striking palettes that evoke the eras. This projection work redefines the colonial building as a contemporary time capsule, a hub for mob to gather and look back on and the achievements of the last 50 years.
