ReachOut Australia – Mob Mindfulness, Switch Off & Talking Matters
The Gilay team worked with ReachOut Australia once again to ideate and execute content to help people with the mental health impact of the Voice to Parliament referendum in October 2023. We wrote, directed and produced animations, gifs, comic strips, illustrations, provided cultural feedback and wrote a short article. Below are select concepts explored within this campaign.
Mob Mindfulness
Includes a collection of video and gif sequences showcasing the iconic characters, Wickie, Tuo and Zig. These three personas take a break to practice their own forms of mindfulness. Unique natural soundscapes accompany each video to convey calm and relaxation.
Switch Off
An eight-panel traditional comic exploring the feelings of exhaustion caused by the constant buzzing of notifications from social media and the impacts of the online world. Tuo shows that there are ways to switch off and reconnect with people offline without the overwhelming presence of digital noise.
Talking Matters
Brings back characters from our prior ReachOut comics. This time they feature in visuals spread throughout ReachOut’s article ‘Why yarning matters‘, which highlights the importance of speaking out to help stay strong, connected and support your wellbeing.
